•   Week 1

•   Health & Safety - around the use and safety aspects of the course (Building safety and product usage)

•   Learning how a camera works

•   Learn about Exposure and Shutter Speed

•   Create and make a keyhole camera (Illustration attached on course manual)

 

•   Week 2

•   Identify types of Cameras and explore the history of Cameras

•   Understanding the difference between SLR and Compact Cameras

•   How they work (See course manual)

 

•   Week 3

•   Camera Exposure

•   The importance of this function

•   Exposure Triangle explained (Aperture and ISO)

 

•   Week- 4/5

•   Exploring the function of Shutter Speed and how it works

•   Shutter Speed demonstration to see what happens inside the Camera when a picture is taken

•   Theory/ Practical

•   Testing the effects of this function in Motion

•   Week 6

•   Course review and learning assessment based on knowledge obtained in weeks 1-5 (recap)

 

•   Week 7

•   Practical exercise consisting of learners taking 25 steps, select an object and take an image

•   Repeat cycle x10

•   Produce a slide show of images taken to be reviewed in week 8

 

•   Week 8

•   Review of week 7 of images taken

•   Feedback on the use of Shutter Speed, Aperture, ISO and Selection of How and why each image was chosen (Group activity, interactive with course tutors and other learners)

 

•   Week 9

•   The history of the world’s oldest surviving photograph. Taken by a camera obscure

•   Use the Keyhole Camera to take images for next session

 

•   Week 10

•   Research tasks such as understanding the differences between: Wild Life Photography, Still Life, Portraits, Landscapes, Sports Photography & Documentary Photography

 

•   Week 11

•   Create a slideshow/film from the images taken during the course to show an animated sequence incorporating background music or narration

 

•   Week 12

•   Course overview

•   Trouble Shooting

•   Learner Outcomes

•   One to Ones

•   Completion of feedback forms
